Job Title: Retail Manager

Location: Exchequer Street, Dublin 2 – Creative Quarter
Reports to: General Manager
Manages: Up to 16 staff (full-time & part-time)
Role Purpose
To lead the day-to-day retail and back‑office operations of Musicmaker, ensuring an exceptional in‑store experience, strong commercial performance, effective stock control, and a motivated, high‑performing team. The role bridges front‑of‑house leadership with operational excellence, including stock, logistics, and e‑commerce coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Retail & Customer Experience
* Lead by example on the shop floor, delivering outstanding customer service
* Maintain Musicmaker's reputation as a best‑in‑class, award‑winning retailer
* Drive sales performance, conversion, and average transaction value
* Ensure visual merchandising standards are consistently high
* Handle escalated customer queries professionally and effectively
People Management
* Manage, motivate, and develop a team of up to 16 staff
* Support creation of rotas in line with trading patterns and labour targets
* Recruit, onboard, train, and performance‑manage staff
* Conduct regular check‑ins, reviews, and coaching
* Foster a positive, energetic, music‑led culture
Stock Control & Operations
* Oversee goods inwards and outwards
* Maintain accurate stock levels across in‑store and online systems
* Manage stock counts, discrepancy investigations, and reporting
* Liaise with suppliers and distributors where required
* Ensure smooth logistics between shop floor, stock room, and e‑commerce
E-commerce & Back Office
* Work closely with the admin team to ensure stock accuracy
* Support online order fulfilment and click & collect
* Identify operational improvements between retail, online & distro channels
* Use systems and reporting to improve efficiency and margin
Commercial & Reporting
* Track KPIs including sales, margin, labour, and stock turn
* Provide regular operational updates to senior management
* Contribute ideas for growth, efficiency, and customer engagement
