Quality & Product Environmental Engineer
Ampere Recruitment is working exclusively with a specialist electronics manufacturer to appoint a Quality & Product Environmental Engineer. This is a dual‑remit leadership role, combining ownership of the Quality Management System with accountability for product environmental compliance across the full manufacturing lifecycle.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong quality professional who wants to shape both quality culture and sustainability strategy within a high‑reliability electronics environment.
The Role
Reporting to senior leadership, you will lead the organisation’s ISO 9001‑certified Quality Management System while ensuring all products and processes meet applicable environmental regulations and directives, including RoHS and REACH. You will champion a “compliance‑first” culture and act as the bridge between engineering, operations, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Own and maintain the Quality Management System to ISO 9001:2015 standards, driving the transition towards ISO 9001:2026.
Enforce IPC assembly standards (IPC‑A‑610, IPC/WHMA‑A‑620) across PCB and cable harness production.
Lead CAPA processes, resolving non‑conformities across all stages of manufacturing.
Plan and execute internal and external audits covering quality and environmental compliance, including supplier verification for RoHS, REACH, and conflict minerals.
Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) to evaluate environmental impact and identify improvement opportunities.
Collect and report quality and environmental performance data to senior management.
Collaborate with R&D, subcontractors, and third‑party consultants to embed sustainability into product design and development.
Deliver training programmes to raise quality and environmental awareness across the business.
What We’re Looking For
Background in electronics manufacturing with hands‑on experience in PCB assembly quality (SMT/through‑hole).
Strong knowledge of environmental directives (RoHS, REACH) and quality methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.
Experience leading internal/external audits and managing corrective action processes.
Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
Certified IPC Specialist recognition.
Familiarity with PLM systems for component traceability (e.g. Empower PLM).
Experience conducting Life Cycle Assessments.
Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods.
Why Apply?
This is a rare opportunity to take genuine ownership of both quality and environmental compliance in a technically demanding environment. You’ll have the mandate to shape processes, influence strategy, and leave a lasting mark on the organisation’s compliance culture.
