A Key Leadership Position: Construction Safety Lead
This role is pivotal in ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental practices are maintained across multiple construction projects.
Job Responsibilities:
* Lead a team of site contractor safety coordinators, aligning them with the organisation's safety goals and objectives.
* Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for construction HSE documents and standards, adapting to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
* Deliver direction and governance for various HSE Programmes, including project supervisor design process and maintenance department on site.
* Identify potential safety hazards and risks on construction sites and develop proactive strategies to mitigate these risks.
* Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
* Be a technical expert for LIFE Programs/Risks applicable to the projects.
* Have working knowledge in Environmental Programs applicable to the Construction Industry.
* Develop and implement comprehensive safety training programs for all site personnel, including contractors and subcontractors.
* Lead investigations into any safety incidents or near misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
* Maintain detailed records of all safety incidents and corrective measures taken.
* Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to promote a culture of safety across all construction activities.
Skill and Qualifications:
* Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
* Professional certification in safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is highly desirable.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety leadership role within the construction industry.
* Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices in construction.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
