Job Title
Senior Health and Safety Advisor – Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland
Role Overview
GMC are seeking an experienced Senior Health and Safety Advisor to support the delivery of projects across all aspects of the business from a Health and Safety perspective. A strong ethos on health and safety, compliance, reporting, and documentation are essential qualities for this role.
Responsibilities
Provide health and safety training to employees, including manual handling, toolbox talks and safety induction.
Conduct safety inspections and audits.
Approach accident prevention and environmental protection positively and implement measures to raise safety, health and environmental standards.
Prepare reports on occurrences and supply statistical information to management.
Implement the company's health, safety and environmental policy, procedures and management systems.
Maintain Health & Safety KPIs to drive improvement.
Support management in developing H&S procedures, policies and programs.
Collaborate with the HSQE team to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
Improve health & safety standards within the company management system and on specific sites.
Monitor and enforce implementation of the Health & Safety Management System.
Identify site‑specific hazards and ensure they are addressed in documentation and practice.
Maintain clear lines of communication with the H&S Manager.
Ensure site folders and statutory records are kept up to date.
Enforce strict adherence to site rules by all personnel.
Assist site management to comply with statutory H&S requirements.
Help develop and implement risk assessments and improvements to safe systems of work.
Coordinate safe systems of work with site management and contractors.
Conduct H&S auditing on site and address non‑conformances with site management and contractors.
Participate in accident and incident investigations.
Identify training needs for GMC personnel and contractors.
Perform ad‑hoc tasks as required by the wider business.
Candidate Requirements
Full clean driver's licence required.
3rd level qualification in Health and Safety desirable.
Experience with civils, drainage or utilities (water & electricity).
Confident, motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
Strong time‑management skills to meet targets.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
Integrity and respect for confidentiality and privacy.
Strong relationship builder, able to engage with various stakeholders and statutory bodies.
Capability to manage risk and implement control measures.
Ability to work and build relationships with contractors from diverse backgrounds.
