St. John of God Dublin South East Services is offering a unique opportunity for a skilled and passionate Senior Occupational Therapist to lead a ground-breaking two-year project aimed at supporting Independent Living for adults with moderate intellectual disability.
Rooted in genuine occupational therapy practice, this role offers the chance to shape real change in people's lives through functional assessment, independence skills teaching, meaningful engagement, assistive technology, and a truly person-centred approach.

About the Project: Living My Best Life
This initiative is funded by the HSE and is designed to empower adults with moderate intellectual disability to gain greater independence and achieve their personal life goals to live independently, supported by SJOG DSE.
Key elements of the role include:
Conducting functional assessments to identify opportunities and risks, ensuring individuals can live as independently and safely as possible
Developing and delivering targeted interventions that support safe daily living, including personal care, community access, and home management
Integrating assistive technology, mental health supports, and practical skills-building to enhance independence, safety, confidence, and autonomy
Supporting the rollout of a bespoke person-centred planning tool - Living My Best Life - to help participants set and achieve meaningful life goals
Collaborating with residential staff, families, and interdisciplinary teams to promote sustainable, safe, and person-led engagement
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a dynamic occupational therapist who brings creativity, leadership, and compassion to their practice. The ideal candidate will have:
* A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
* CORU registration (or eligibility for same)
* Demonstrated experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities
* Strong expertise in:
* Functional assessment
* Teaching and enabling independence skills
* Use of assistive technology to promote autonomy
* Supporting mental health for people with intellectual disability.
* Excellent communication, coordination and organisational skills
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* A full clean driving licence
