Position Overview
We are seeking an accomplished Senior Operations Manager to lead and enhance the operational performance of an Environmental Services division. This role is responsible for driving service excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimising operational efficiency, and leading high-performing teams across multiple service lines.
The ideal candidate will combine strong leadership and commercial acumen with a deep understanding of environmental service operations, including waste management, recycling, sustainability initiatives, or related fields.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
* Lead, mentor, and develop operational teams to achieve performance, safety, and quality objectives.
* Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and environmental responsibility.
* Support workforce planning, training, and succession development initiatives.
Operational Excellence
* Oversee all aspects of service delivery, including scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation.
* Implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
* Coordinate with procurement, maintenance, and support teams to ensure uninterrupted service.
Compliance, Quality & Safety
* Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety legislation, as well as company policies and standards.
* Drive continuous compliance improvement and maintain all necessary permits and documentation.
* Promote best practices in sustainability and environmental stewardship.
Client & Stakeholder Management
* Maintain strong relationships with key clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
* Act on customer feedback to enhance service delivery and contract performance.
* Represent the company in client meetings, audits, and industry forums.
Financial & Strategic Oversight
* Manage operational budgets, control costs, and drive profitability improvements.
* Analyse KPIs and performance data to inform strategic decisions.
* Contribute to business planning, growth initiatives, and operational strategy.
Reporting & Performance Management
* Produce accurate operational and financial reports for senior management.
* Monitor and communicate performance trends, risks, and opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum 5+ years in an operations management role within environmental services, waste management, facilities, or utilities.
* Proven track record in leading large teams and improving operational performance.
* Strong understanding of environmental compliance, safety standards, and sustainability practices.
* Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Commercially minded with experience managing budgets and KPIs.
* Full, clean driver's licence and willingness to travel as required.
