Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant or Part-Qualified Accountant to join our finance team on a 6-month maternity cover contract. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills and a solid foundation in management accounting who is looking to gain further experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
* Prepare the weekly site P&L report, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery to stakeholders
* Review weekly and monthly overhead spending and report variances against budget and forecast
* Analyze weekly distribution costs, identifying key drivers of variance against budget and forecast
* Issue weekly waste reports and maintain and review obsolete stock provision
* Ensure accurate and complete stock valuation on the balance sheet for all locations
* Coordinate and manage quarterly stock count audits, ensuring compliance and accuracy
* Prepare monthly accruals and prepayments for overhead costs
* Prepare budgeted and forecasted overhead spends for the sites
* Participate in ad hoc financial projects and initiatives as required, contributing to continuous improvement and business support
Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum two years experience in a similar role, ideally within the FMCG industry
* Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) is desirable
* Strong understanding of management accounting principles
* Experience with accruals, prepayments, budgeting, and forecasting
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Familiarity with stock audits and reconciliations
