Senior Sales Engineer / Business Development Manager – Security Systems (CCTV & Access Control)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced sales professional with strong technical knowledge of security systems to drive the growth of our CCTV and access control business.

While you will assume responsibility for a number of our existing major accounts, the primary focus of this role is new business generation – winning new customers, new sites and new projects. You will do this by working closely with consulting engineers and mechanical & electrical (M&E) contractors to ensure our solutions are designed in, specified and selected at an early stage of projects.

You will be selling designed, engineered solutions across numerous sectors including pharmaceutical, food & beverage, commercial residential & commercial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

1.
New Business & Market Development (Primary Focus)

* Proactively identify and develop new customers, new sites and new project opportunities in target sectors.
* Build a strong network of consulting engineers and M&E contractors to position our company as their preferred security systems partner.
* Track and follow projects from early design stage through to tender and award, ensuring our solutions remain the basis of design.
* Generate and convert a strong pipeline of new business opportunities, meeting agreed new customer and new site targets.
* Support and participate in business development activities, such as industry events, CPDs, technical presentations and site demonstrations.

2. Consultant & M&E Contractor Engagement

* Meet and collaborate with consultant engineers to lay out, design and specify CCTV and access control systems on projects.
* Interpret and contribute to design briefs, drawings and performance specifications, producing clear equipment schedules and system layouts.
* Provide technical advice and design input at design meetings and coordination workshops.
* Work closely with M&E contractors during tender, clarification and negotiation stages to secure orders.
* Provide timely technical and commercial clarifications and support contractors in presenting our solution to end clients.

3. Key Account Management

Manage a defined portfolio of existing major accounts, ensuring high levels of service and repeat business.

* Identify upsell, cross-sell and multi-site opportunities within these accounts.
* Maintain regular contact with key stakeholders and conduct account reviews and performance updates.
* Coordinate with our service and project teams to ensure smooth delivery and strong customer satisfaction.

4. Commercial & Administrative

* Achieve and exceed agreed sales, new business and margin targets.
* Prepare and deliver professional proposals, technical submissions and commercial offers.
* Negotiate terms within company guidelines, ensuring deals are profitable and sustainable.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records, forecasts and activity reports.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

* 5+ years in a technical sales / sales engineering / business development role within security systems, CCTV, access control or closely related technology.
* Proven track record of generating new business – winning new customers and new sites, not just managing an inherited portfolio.
* Experience working with consulting engineers to have systems designed and specified into projects.
* Strong background in engaging with M&E contractors to secure orders and deliver projects.
* Solid understanding of:
* IP CCTV systems, cameras and VMS platforms
* Access control systems, controllers, readers and credentials
* Basic IT/networking concepts and system integration
* Experience with industrial, pharmaceutical, food & beverage or other regulated environments is a strong advantage.
* Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
* Strong commercial awareness and the ability to articulate value, not just price.
* Self-motivated, organised and comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines.
* Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites, consultants and contractors.

Desirable

* Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations relating to electronic security and data protection.
* Technical qualification in Engineering, Security Systems, Electronics, IT or related field.
* Manufacturer training/certifications on leading CCTV and access control platforms.
* Experience responding to formal tenders and RFPs.

Education

* Degree or diploma in a relevant technical discipline is an advantage, but strong industry experience will be equally valued.
