Home Care Support Workers required for Monday to Friday evenings and weekends in Dublin 7, and 15.
Rates of pay: premium pay rates are paid for evening and weekend hours worked, up to €25.40.
Responsibilities
Listen, talk to and get to know Service Users.
Encourage Service Users to have input into care provision.
Help Service Users to be safe, happy and have as much fun as possible.
Encourage Service Users to express feelings, fears and experiences openly.
Respect Service Users' privacy in bathrooms and personal care.
Wash, bathe, shower, shave, groom and clean teeth.
Assist Service Users in getting in and out of bed safely.
Assist with the use of aids for daily living / rehabilitation aids as required.
Assist with rehabilitation programmes prescribed by healthcare professionals.
Prepare snacks and meals according to Service Users' likes and dislikes.
Assist with feeding as required.
Shop, prepare shopping lists and assist with budgeting.
Assist with personal finances, including paying bills and collecting pensions where applicable.
Cook nutritional meals if required.
Work alone using initiative, be mindful of health and safety, and report observations affecting Service Users, their families or friends.
Work as part of a team and report to management staff.
Respect confidentiality at all times.
Requirements
Own transport.
Full clean driving licence.
Minimum of two former employer references.
Proof of relevant qualifications (Fetac/QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support, with completed modules Care of the Older Person and Care Skills).
Fitness to work certificate from a GP.
Willingness to undertake Garda vetting and a clean Garda clearance certificate.
Empathy with fellow Home Care Support Workers and those receiving care.
Excellent communication skills and use of the English language.
Good listening skills and sensitivity in giving emotional support.
A helpful manner and ability to communicate with people in a variety of situations and backgrounds.
Ability to give physical and personal care such as toileting, washing and feeding.
Willingness to help with domestic duties, including cooking, if required within the care plans.
Ability to build relationships with Service Users, their families, colleagues and other healthcare professionals to help Service Users maintain social links where possible.
Experience of being in a caring situation.
