This is a strategic role ideal for professionals with deep experience in the design and delivery of automated machinery, including filling, packaging, and assembly systems.Role SummaryAs a senior leader within the engineering team, you will oversee the mechanical design function, driving complex projects from concept through to commissioning. You’ll play a hands-on role in leading teams that design and develop high-performance automated systems and special-purpose equipment tailored for industrial automation environments.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and mentor the Mechanical Design team in concept development, detailed design, and delivery of automation and machine-build projects.Collaborate with Controls and Process teams to integrate mechanical design into broader automation systems.Drive innovation in mechanical design for automated machinery—focusing on reliability, repeatability, and safety.Manage departmental planning, workload prioritization, and design reviews using agile and SCRUM methodologies.Ensure all designs meet CE marking requirements, safety standards, and engineering best practices.Oversee the use and improvement of Product Data Management (PDM) systems and documentation control.Support sales and commercial teams with technical input and cost estimation for bespoke machine solutions.Maintain strong communication with internal and external stakeholders throughout the design lifecycle.Candidate ProfileMinimum 8 years’ experience in mechanical design for automated systems, custom machinery, or industrial equipment.Background in high-speed automation, robotic integration, or precision motion systems is highly desirable.Proven leadership capabilities in managing design teams and engineering deliverables.Strong command of 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks), PDM systems, and mechanical system analysis.Solid understanding of safety engineering, risk assessment, CE marking, and GMP-compliant design.Experience working within cross-functional engineering environments, including automation, controls, and process teams.Fluent in English (other European languages an advantage).Required Technical SkillsMechanical system sizing, motion control, and kinematic designCreative concept development and mechanical problem-solvingSafety and risk assessment (CE and GMP-compliant)Strong proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systemsExcellent time management and task prioritization skillsBenefitsCompetitive Salary (€55,000 – €85,000 depending on experience)Company pension and bonus schemeFlexible working hours and hybrid optionsCollaborative and innovation-focused work cultureNote: Only candidates currently located within the European Union, EEA, or UK with the legal right to work will be considered.
