PrintSafe Ltd is pleased to open this vacancy for a talented field-based electro-mechanical engineer suited to a dynamic, self-starter. This engineer will join our existing, experienced field service engineering team to expand further our support capabilities, supporting the PrintSafe range of coding and marking (printing) equipment in B2B customer sites across the UK and Ireland.
The Role
The Field Service Engineer has functional relationships with external customers and with other field and workshop-based technicians, as well as our dedicated Sales and After Sales Teams. The Engineer will travel through the UK with typically two to three overnight stays per week and will be required to spend four consecutive days in Ireland at least four times per calendar year to carry out service and support visits. The new addition to our team will ideally be based in the Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, North Hampshire or Berkshire area.
Mission
Fault-find, repair, routine servicing and customer site training. Diagnose and resolve issues that arise during a service call. Escalate issues requiring further resolution. Ensure customer machinery is left complete, safe and tidy with paperwork signed off to our customers’ satisfaction. Identify future customer sales opportunities.
1. Travel extensively throughout the UK and Ireland
2. Service PrintSafe-supplied printers, feeders and accessories at customer sites
3. Undertake on-site and remote fault-finding and repair of PrintSafe-supplied equipment
4. Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair printers/feeders at customer sites
5. Carry out preventative maintenance to maximise customer uptime mindful of customer production schedules and equipment specifications
6. Provide technical support over the phone as allocated/trained
7. Out of contract servicing and routine maintenance
8. Maintain records and follow PrintSafe servicing protocols and manuals
9. Train and support customers to operate systems correctly, in line with Health and Safety guidelines
10. Document customer training attendees and feedback to the main office
11. Liaise appropriately and feedback thoroughly following customer visits
12. Liaise with site personnel from senior management through engineering leads, to shop floor operatives appropriately
13. Collaborate and share information with peers and service line managers
14. Provide a timely response to both external and internal customers
15. Work with the field and internal sales teams
16. Managing stock of parts and tools, using set schemes
17. Maintain complete work records/administration tasks as required
18. Provide constructive feedback, positive and negative on issues, products etc.
19. Represent PrintSafe in a professional manner at all times
20. Accept increasing responsibility with tenure
There are no direct people management responsibilities with this role.

1. Electronic skills: High level electronics skills
2. Diagnostics skills: Ability to methodically and routinely follow diagnostic procedures to a conclusion
3. Mechanical skills: Good level of mechanical expertise, ideally with formal qualifications
4. Communication skills: Strong verbal communication and customer service skills with a good level of written English
5. Logic: Demonstrable, methodical and logical approach to fault finding and problem solving
6. Versatility: Candidates should be prepared to travel within the UK for work (to other PrintSafe/customer/supplier/event sites) with distances routinely exceeding 100 miles. The working week typically includes two to three overnight stays.
7. Work ethic: Self-starting, able to work autonomously without daily supervision. Results-driven and motivated by first time fix mentality
8. Personal organisation skills: Excellent administration and paperwork/visit documentation skills
9. Time management: Good time management skills and the ability to manage multiple activities/projects simultaneously
10. IT skills: Basic IT skills: Windows, Email, Internet, Word, Excel as a minimum
11. Education: BTEC/ONC (or equivalent) formal electronics training as a minimum
Suitable applicants should have a current, full driving licence, a current passport and the right to work in the UK. A company vehicle will be provided. Occasionally service calls may occur outside of normal office hours, and attendance following consultation may be required.
