Join the Global SVE (System/Validation/Emulation) team at QCOM Technologies Inc, dedicated to delivering advanced solutions for the design of next‑generation wireless products. The Global SVE team are seeking an FPGA Emulation Engineer to provide end‑to‑end technical ownership of FPGA‑based emulation platforms, flows, and system‑level debug. This is a technical role combining deep hands‑on expertise with cross‑site technical leadership, mentoring, and platform evolution.
NOTE: This role will require 5 days per week onsite in our Cork office.
The Role Includes
Deliver FPGA‑based emulation solutions across commercial emulation platforms including FPGA prototyping, Veloce, and Palladium
Drive emulation build flows, including synthesis, place & route, constraints, clocking, and timing closure.
Lead system‑level debug using waveforms, instrumentation, and content‑level analysis to support SoC bring‑up.
Lead or contribute to bring‑up of new FPGA emulation and prototyping hardware and software.
Collaborate closely with design, validation, software, and CAD teams across global sites.
Engage with EDA vendors and represent the team in cross‑functional and executive technical forums.
Mentor and technically lead junior engineers.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
5+ years of hands‑on experience in FPGA design, verification, emulation, or related domains
Strong experience with SystemVerilog/RTL/HDL
Hands‑on experience with AMD/Xilinx UltraScale, UltraScale+, MPSoC. (Altera experience a plus)
Solid understanding of FPGA implementation flows and timing closure.
Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics
8+ years of experience in pre‑silicon emulation, prototyping, or silicon enablement environments
Proven experience defining and deploying uniform emulation methodologies and build/debug flows at scale.
Experience with pre‑silicon SoC bring‑up and enablement.
Experience debugging low‑level hardware and software issues.
Familiarity with JTAG, kernel debuggers, and digital debug techniques
Strong understanding of CPU and SoC architectures, including interconnects, power management, PMICs, NoC, and peripherals.
Working knowledge of power and performance trade‑offs
Experience with C/C++ programming
Proficiency in Python, TCL, and scripting for automation
Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑site initiatives and communicate effectively with senior technical stakeholders.

Required: Bachelor's, Science, and/or Engineering
Preferred: Master’s or PhD, Electronics Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science and/or Applied Mathematics
