An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and visionary Director of Nursing to lead the nursing function within a multidisciplinary acute mental health setting. This senior leadership role is responsible for the strategic, operational, and clinical effectiveness of a HSE Hospital. As a key member of the Executive Management Team, the Director of Nursing will play a central role in organisational strategy, service planning, and the development of high-quality, compassionate, human-rights-based care. The successful candidate will champion best practice, drive service improvements, and foster a culture of excellence aligned with the values and ethos of the organisation. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership for the nursing service within a multidisciplinary environment. Lead the development and implementation of new and innovative service improvements. Oversee nursing policy, standards, governance, and regulatory compliance. Ensure effective coordination of nursing activities and delivery of high-quality, safe, and person-centred care. Support the professional development, education, and training of all nursing staff. Contribute meaningfully to organisational planning and executive decision-making. Drive forward-thinking, compassionate, and compliant models of care. Essential Qualifications & Experience A minimum of five years senior nursing management experience in an acute mental healthcare setting. Significant acute in-patient mental health nursing experience within a multidisciplinary team. Strong knowledge of Clinical Governance, Service Planning, Service Provision, Resource Management, and Regulatory Compliance. Demonstrated experience in education, research and practice development.
