Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Children’s Palliative Care
Hours: Part time, 18.75 hours per week

Salary: €30,731 - €38,833

Summary of the role
The CNS practice will include a major clinical focus, which comprises assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care given to children and their families. As a member of the inter‑disciplinary team the CNS will work collaboratively with other members of the team to provide the highest standard of specialist palliative nursing care to children with life‑limiting conditions/ palliative care needs. The CNS will participate in children’s palliative care research and audit and act as a consultant in education and clinical practice to nursing colleagues and the wider inter‑disciplinary team. The CNS will facilitate and support teams to implement evidence‑based practice and will contribute to the continuing development of Children’s Palliative care in Lauralynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.

Essential Criteria
* Hold current Registration in the Children’s Division of the Register of Nurses held by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
* Have acquired a post‑registration level 9 qualification on the National Qualifications Framework of Ireland (major award) or the equivalent, in Palliative Care
* Have a minimum of 1 year post‑registration experience and a minimum of 1 year specialist area experience of working with children with life‑limiting conditions/palliative care needs
* Demonstrate an in‑depth knowledge of the role of the CNS
* Excellent communication skills
* Excellent interpersonal and team‑working skills
* Ability to make high‑level clinical and leadership decisions
* Ability to work within an inter‑disciplinary team
