Bloomfield Hospital is inviting applications for the position of Assistant Director of Nursing.

Location: Bloomfield Hospital, Stocking Lane, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16 (fully onsite)
Contract Type: Full-time permanent
Working Hours: 78 hours fortnightly
Purpose of the Post
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) will support the Director of Nursing in achieving the operational and strategic goals of the organisation, the delivery of high-quality, person‑centred care and the day to day running of the hospital. This leadership role involves clinical oversight, clinical governance, staff development, quality improvement, and strategic input to ensure safe and effective care aligned with national policy, legislation, organisational objectives, professional standards and regulatory requirements.
The post holder will provide professional and clinical leadership to the nursing team and will be accountable for the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of care and clinical practice within their area of responsibility. The ADON will promote a culture of continuous quality improvement, patient safety, accountability and evidence‑based practice while supporting service development and organisational change initiatives.
The successful candidate will have significant clinical and management experience within mental health services, strong leadership and governance skills, and a comprehensive knowledge of Mental Health Commission standards, relevant legislation and national healthcare priorities.
The ADON will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, senior management and external stakeholders to support integrated service delivery and the ongoing development of nursing services in line with the organisation’s strategic objectives.

Essential Criteria
Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Minimum of 7 years post‑registration nursing experience, including significant experience within adult mental health services.
Relevant senior clinical and management experience within mental health services, with at least 5 years at Clinical Nurse Manager level.
Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership, governance, risk management and service improvement.
Comprehensive knowledge of Mental Health Commission standards, relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
Experience in staff management, workforce planning, resource management and service delivery.
Evidence of continuing professional development and ongoing professional learning.
Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and statutory obligations relevant to healthcare services.
