Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) Coordinator
The QHSE Coordinator is to assist the QHSE Manager to ensure that the business meets its regulatory and internal standards for quality, health and safety, and environmental performance. The role involves co-ordinating various QHSE initiatives, ensuring compliance, managing risk, and driving improvements in these areas across Johnsons Ireland sites in Wexford, Naas and Belfast.
Johnsons Celtic Linen is certified to three standards:ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001 Management Systems and EN 14065Risk Analysis & Bio-contamination Control System (RABC).
Reporting to the QHSE Manager, the QHSE Coordinator will work closely with the QHSE/SHEQ Officers and assist in the development of the QHSE Ireland team.
Responsibilities
* Quality, Environmental & RABC Management:
o Assist in developing and maintaining quality, environmental and RABC management systems.In particular, co-ordinating the implementation of standards at different sites.
o Ensure regular internal audits and inspections take place for compliance with standards.
o Assist in external customer and certification body audits.
o Prepare staged plans for the implementation of standards at non-certified sites.
o Support the identification of quality, environmental & RABC system issues and work on solutions to improve processes.
o Monitor performance indicators and prepare reports.
o Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, sustainability goals and The Johnsons Way and promote initiatives for reducing the environmental footprint of the business.
o Assist in monitoring, recording and evaluating environmental impacts and aspects.
o Assist in RABC validation and protocols.
o Assist in the development of QHSE related training materials and ensure all employees are aware of the QHSE standards and their responsibilities.
* Health & Safety:
o In conjunction with the QHSE Manager, ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and legislation.
o Assist in the review and update of Health and Safety Statements, risk assessments, safety plans, SOP’s and SSOW across all sites and maintain records of safety activities, incidents, and investigations.
o Assist in the development and provision of health & safety related training and materials and ensure all employees are aware of Health & Safety Statement, risk assessments and procedures.
o Assist in regular workplace safety inspections and audits to identify hazards.
o Review accident/incident reports to ensure corrective and preventative are identified and result in a reduction in risk.
o Work with QHSE and Management Teams to reduce accident/incident numbers and increase hazard/near miss reporting.
o Assist in the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks in the workplace.
* Other
o Serve as a point of contact for QHSE-related inquiries.
o Liaise with regulatory bodies, contractors, and suppliers to ensure compliance if required.
o Coordinate with internal departments in an effective and efficient manner to ensure the integration of QHSE practices.
Requirements
* Qualification to at least Diploma level in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Certification in QHSE-related areas (e.g., NEBOSH, ISO 9001, ISO 14001) is highly preferred.
* Previous experience in a QHSE role, with knowledge of quality management systems, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards is essential.
* Experience in conducting audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
* Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements in health, safety, and environmental areas.
* Ability to analyse data, prepare reports, and maintain records.
* Proven excellent organizational and project management skills.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to train and motivate staff
* Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to risk management.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
* Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional and multi-site teams.
