IS Support Engineer – 6-Month Contract+ | Onsite in Wicklow

We are currently seeking an IS Support Engineer to join a busy IT team supporting a large onsite workforce in Wicklow.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Helpdesk Supervisor, the IS Support Engineer will provide onsite and remote support across a broad range of IT systems. You will be responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software issues, supporting Microsoft 365 environments, and ensuring end users receive timely, effective technical assistance.
This role is well suited to someone with 0–3 years' experience in IT support who is eager to develop their skills in a real-world, business-critical environment.
Support a Critical Onsite Operation
This role sits within an established IT function responsible for the smooth day-to-day operation of information systems across a manufacturing-style environment. You'll be working closely with internal users and external IT service providers, providing hands-on, practical support where reliability and responsiveness matter.
This is a short-term contract role (minimum 6 months), ideal for early-career IT professionals looking to build strong onsite support experience.
Job Responsibilities
* Provide an onsite presence supporting day-to-day IS operations
* Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and peripherals
* Deliver Microsoft Office 365 support and administration, including:
* SharePoint Sites
* Microsoft Teams
* MS Forms
* Provide remote desktop support to users with varying levels of technical ability
* Configure and support mobile devices
* Troubleshoot and support printers
* Assist with Active Directory, SCCM, VMWare, and basic networking tasks (advantageous)
* Liaise with external IT service providers as required
* Maintain a high standard of customer service and professional communication
Experience & Skills Required
* Third-level qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (essential)
* 1–3 years' experience in an IT Support / Helpdesk / IS Support role
* Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-diagnosis skills
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to support staff at all levels of the organisation
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
* Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working on own initiative
* Interest in current and emerging IT technologies
Desirable Skills
* Experience in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment
* Exposure to VMWare, SCCM, and networking fundamentals
* Familiarity with enterprise IT support processes
