We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Purchasing Manager to join an award-winning team in Galway.

The Assistant Purchasing Manager will assist with day-to-day purchasing activities, contribute to cost-effective procurement, and develop an understanding of the supply market, supporting both project and overall business objectives.
Key duties: Assist the Purchasing Manager with the day to day operations of the Purchasing Department.
Support the management of key categories of spend such as steel, insulation, concrete products and general site materials.
Assist in reviewing purchase requests from sites to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Help resolve issues relating to materials delivered to site in a timely manner.
Support colleagues in identifying suitable suppliers for material enquiries.
Obtain and compare supplier quotations, highlighting cost differences and potential issues.
Assist in negotiating pricing and terms with suppliers where appropriate.
Support the identification of new suppliers and assist in evaluating existing supplier performance.
Assist in coordinating the redistribution of surplus materials between sites.
Help ensure materials are ordered and delivered in line with project timelines.
Maintain an ethical and consistent approach to procurement activities.
Build and maintain good working relationships with suppliers.
Assist in monitoring supplier performance in terms of cost, quality, and reliability.
Update and maintain the materials database and procurement data on the ERP system.
Support spend analysis and assist with tender enquiries when required.
Assist in monitoring project costs against budgets for assigned categories.
Provide support in preparing information for tendering and procurement processes.
Key skills: Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
Ability to work to deadlines and support timely procurement of goods and services.
Developing commercial awareness and understanding of cost control.
Basic technical understanding of construction materials.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP or similar systems is an advantage.
Proactive attitude with a willingness to support all aspects of the procurement function.
