We build reusable systems and components that help us scale our impact including design systems, authoring tools, localization pipelines, form processors, experimentation systems and personalization workflows.We have the unique opportunity to make a significant impact on a high-traffic, global website, working with a talented and supportive team and using cutting-edge technology to solve complex problems.The RoleThis is a Senior Software Development Engineer role for the (http://mongodb.com/) mongodb.com Web Experiences (http://mongodb.com/) team and will report to the Engineering Manager aka Software Development Lead.Senior Engineers help transform the web experiences and the platform, working with a team of full stack engineers, infrastructure team, designers and publishers to produce immersive and compelling web experiences powering an average of 2 million plus monthly user views, while also delivering a wide variety of capabilities to internal content producers via a headless CMS.We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Dublin for our hybrid working model.What you will doBalance priorities between technical leadership and system architecture (roughly 50%), and hands-on work (remaining 50%) on multiple web applications & systemsSupport the Engineering Manager in quarterly planning for platform and innovation-heavy initiativesPartner with the Engineering manager, Product manager and Scrum master to help manage our Agile sprintsLead complex projects either individually or with small working groups of two or three engineers, depending on the scope of the projectParticipate in product and architecture discussions and write technical spec docs for large projects assigned by your managerWork cross-functionally with engineering, product, design, publishing, SEO, analytics & infrastructure teams to turn functional requirements into technical specificationsProvide logical, thorough review of the team’s code, provide technical documentation and make recommendations on how to improve our code, infrastructure and software development processesManage and optimize CI/CD pipelines to ensure rapid and reliable deploymentsTroubleshoot and resolve complex technical issuesProvide technical mentorship to entry-level and mid-level engineersBe a role model for engineering best practices and promote those practicesParticipate in our on call rotation shared with other full time engineersQualifications7+ years of professional experience in building production-ready web sites or web applications, including 2+ years at a medium to large enterpriseProficiency in modern Javascript / Typescript frameworks preferably Next.js, React, Express and Node.jsStrong experience with CI/CD deployment pipelines with services like Drone, Github, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes as well as application monitoringExperience with a headless CMS (Contentstack or any other similar)Have independently and proactively worked at every level of the stack to build optimized, performant, resilient and scalable global websitesEnjoys collaborating cross-functionally with other engineers, analysts, designers, product managers, and other stakeholders in a fast-paced, agile environmentEnjoys providing technical mentorship for more junior engineersExperience writing and reviewing technical specsTrack record of developing, releasing, and monitoring highly complex featuresExcellent problem-solving as well as written and oral communication skillsExperience working remotely with globally distributed teamsExperience working with Jira and with applying SCRUM/Agile development principlesExperience with AI coding tools and a desire to utilize them for improved efficiencyNice-to-have:Experience with CMS migrationsContentstack experience would be a big bonusKnowledge of UI/UX best practicesBonus points if you've worked in both large enterprise and startup environmentsExperience with on call rotationsAbout MongoDBMongoDB is built for change, empowering our customers and our people to innovate at the speed of the market.
