Key Areas Guest Assistance Overnight Service Security Safety Monitoring Accommodation Maintenance Support Set-Ups Event Preparation Communication Handover Job Purpose The Night Receptionist plays a vital role in ensuring the comfort, safety, and satisfaction of guests during the night shift.
This is a hands-on operational role, involving guest service, light housekeeping, and security duties to maintain the smooth running of the hotel overnight.
The Night Receptionist supports the Night Manager and Front Office team by assisting guests, monitoring security, preparing event areas, and ensuring public spaces remain clean and welcoming.
Role Responsibilities Guest Assistance Overnight Service Greet and assist guests with late check-ins, luggage handling, room service support, and general enquiries.
Provide directions and information about hotel facilities and services.
Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, ensuring high levels of service throughout the night.
Security Safety Monitoring Carry out regular security patrols of the property, monitoring entrances, exits, and public areas.
Report and respond to any unusual activity, emergencies, or maintenance issues.
Ensure all external doors and restricted access areas are secured overnight.
Housekeeping Maintenance Support Assist with light cleaning duties in public areas to maintain a high standard of presentation.
Support the maintenance team by reporting faults, damages, or hazards promptly.
Carry out small tasks such as setting up meeting rooms or replenishing supplies if required.
Set-Ups Event Preparation Assist with setting up or resetting event and conference spaces for the following day.
Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as required to support operational needs.
Ensure all set-up tasks are completed in line with hotel standards.
Communication Handover Maintain clear records of incidents, guest requests, and completed tasks.
Provide a detailed handover to the morning team, ensuring continuity of service.
Communicate effectively with the Night Manager, Reception, and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
Preferred Experience Previous experience in a hospitality, security, or guest service role is an advantage.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently overnight.
Good level of physical fitness to handle lifting, carrying, and set-up tasks.
High attention to detail and commitment to guest service.
Flexibility to support wider hotel operations as required.
