We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to lead the Electrical design of our Data Centers across our rapidly expanding Asia Pacific (APAC) portfolio.
As an electrical engineer at Amazon you will work with internal teams and external groups including utilities, manufacturers, vendors, consultants, and contractors.
Travel up to 25% across the region is expected.
Key job responsibilities
Lead Data center electrical designs in collaboration with other disciplines to create a coordinated construction document set
Participate in site selection reviews and work with local utilities to understand and define site utility requirements
Design critical Data Center equipment including site-wide MV infrastructure, Generators, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Switchgear, Transformers and Earthing
Ensure designs meet or exceed quality requirements and stay within budget
Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment
Ensure compliance with IEC requirements, APAC wide design codes and other jurisdictional requirements
Review and approve equipment submittals and manage concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions
Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests during construction phases
Work with commissioning teams to test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems
Travel to sites to review, evaluate engineering, audit, and support startup
Basic Qualifications
Degree in Electrical Engineering and 3+ years of direct experience in data center or mission critical facility design
Comprehensive understanding of code requirements across the APAC region
Fundamental understanding of critical MV and LV electrical equipment
Detailed understanding of MV system modelling, relays, protection schemes, circuit breakers, power and distribution transformers, electrical switchgear, grounding and earthing
Preferred Qualifications
Consultant negotiation and management skills for design, construction, and project execution
Experience with fast track design/build projects or multiple significant upgrade projects
Experience with large scale technical operations or large-scale compute farms and knowledge of building codes and regulations
Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities, and carry new design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment/construction
Talent for complex business case analysis to justify technical decisions and present the justification to management in high level reviews
