Job Description
The role of Health and Safety Advisor is to provide expert guidance on health, safety, and environmental matters across various business sectors.
This includes maintaining records of statutory inspections for all activities and plant equipment, coordinating with site supervision to address shortfalls, and reporting findings to the EHS manager.
Additionally, the Health and Safety Advisor will investigate incidents and accidents, documenting findings in the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS).
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain up-to-date records of statutory inspections for all activities and plant equipment.
2. Coordinate with site supervision to address shortfalls, implement necessary improvements, and report findings to the EHS manager.
3. Investigate incidents and accidents, documenting findings in the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS).
4. Assist with site inspection visits as mandated by the Health & Safety Authority.
5. Deliver Health & Safety induction programs for new employees and contractors.
6. Manage and recommend Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) requirements.
7. Represent the organization at Health & Safety-related weekly site meetings, keeping detailed minutes.
8. Organize and chair safety meetings for contractors and subcontractors.
9. Ensure that subcontractor safety statements, relevant documentation, and method statements are available and assessed on site; assist with their preparation as needed.
10. Advise and support site management in drafting and communicating Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
11. Compile, update, and communicate site emergency plans.
12. Oversee inspections of site safety equipment, including fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
13. Gather and prepare information for inclusion in the Safety File, ensuring readiness for client handover at project completion.
14. Liaise with management regarding training needs.
15. Facilitate toolbox talks.
16. Assist with ISO audit compliance and provide Health & Safety support as required by the H&S Manager and Director.
17. Coordinate with main contractors and their site safety teams.
18. Attend and contribute to department meetings.
