Details of ServiceDamien House Services and Ré Nua: provide residential and day services for adults with moderate/severe/profound intellectual disabilities, challenging behaviours and physical and medical conditions. The centres are part of Damien House Regional Services and are governed by a CNM2/CNM1 structure. The local Interdisciplinary Team includes a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Behaviour Support and Senior Clinical Psychologist and Speech and Language.These Services support:Student Nurse training sites in conjunction with SETU (South East Technological university).Nurse lead services with access to members of Community Care MDT.Periodic staff rotation in order to maximize benefit for staff of experiential learning.Each Staff member will have access to both formal and informal supervisionAll mandatory training provided.Links with NMPDU and RCNME provide supports and funding for CPD.HIQA registered centres.Purpose of the PostThe role of the Staff Nurse Intellectual Disability (ID)/Staff Nurse (General)/Staff Nurse (Mental Health) is to provide holistic, person-centred nursing care, promoting optimum independence, and enhancing the quality of life for service users with intellectual, physical or sensory disabilities in all aspects of daily living.On occasion, the Staff Nurse ID/General/Mental Health may be expected to take responsibility for a unit or community facility in the absence of the Clinical Nurse Manager.
