Job Role: Road Maintenance Operative
This role involves carrying out maintenance activities on national, regional and local road networks. As a key member of our team, you will operate a range of vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and efficient day-to-day road operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Drive various road maintenance vehicles including winter service and gritting vehicles.
2. Perform maintenance tasks such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, small drainage repairs, gully cleaning, litter picking and boundary repairs.
3. Install and operate traffic management systems on high-speed roads.
4. Complete accurate paperwork and record sheets.
5. Follow all health and safety procedures and promote safe working practices.
6. Carry out 'watchman' duties by reporting issues on the network.
7. Communicate effectively with colleagues and the public when required.
8. Support emergency services during incident response.
9. Perform additional duties as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Full HGV driving licence.
* Relevant CSCS accreditation.
* Certification in Signing, Lighting & Guarding at Roadworks and Traffic Management on High-Speed Roads.
* Ability to work flexibly across a range of tasks and environments.
* Physically able to carry out manual duties.
* Ability to work independently and use initiative.
