About your role:
Bord Gáis Energy are setting up a new Energy Management Centre (EMC) in Ireland, and we're looking for a number of Shift Operation Technicians to join this new team!
The EMC manages all energy assets in Ireland, the UK, and Europe, including Gas Peaking Power Plants and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
There is also the potential to manage multiple other types of energy asset in the future.
As Shift Operation Technician, you'll effectively interpret data from multiple sources, react promptly to event notifications and follow established procedures to rectify and escalate issues, in line with contractual, License & Permit obligations.
The role will require the ability to work across a 24/7 shift pattern unsupervised and be comfortable in taking initiative and making decisions and play a key role in avoiding any safety risks and limiting our exposure related to unplanned outages and power operational practices.
Here's what you'll be doing:
Engagement and collaboration with key teams to support the development of a Zero harm and continuous improvement safety and environmental culture and ensure Safety, contractual, REMIT, Permit & License compliance.
Monitoring energy assets to maximise efficiency in line with contractual terms.
Monitoring energy assets to maximise efficiency in line with contractual, Licence & Permit requirements
Control & Dispatch of Assets in line with local regulations and rules.
Managing events and unforeseen issues and escalating as required to minimise the impact and support event investigations to deliver a continuous improvement culture.
Providing professional, concise communications to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain accurate records of all tasks undertaken and ensure routines are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
Ensuring a comprehensive and thorough handover takes place between shift teams to maintain continuity of safe operations and ensure ongoing knowledge of work activities.
Working efficiently in an SLA (Service Level Agreement) driven team environment.
Producing reports detailing asset availability and performance patterns.
Adhering to all applicable company policies, procedures and business ethics codes.
Here's what we're looking for:
Relevant degree or significant experience in Electrical, Controls, Process, or Systems Engineering
Knowledge of energy and system service markets; understanding asset interactions is a plus
Skilled in operating energy assets and SCADA control systems
Strong data analysis skills; proficient with OSI PI, Power BI, and Excel
Ability to source, combine, analyse, and present large datasets
Familiarity with incident management, root cause investigations, and action tracking is advantageous
Solid technical understanding of equipment and processes
