Building Surveyor
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to support the delivery of renewable energy projects.
This role focuses on carrying out surveys, energy audits, and technical assessments of domestic properties to ensure compliance with building regulations and SEAI requirements. You will play a key role in evaluating existing buildings, advising on remedial works, and supporting design and delivery teams to achieve high-quality, energy-efficient installations.
Responsibilities
1. Meet with homeowners to discuss project plans and construction requirements
2. Inspect existing buildings to identify defects, risks, and non-compliance
3. Carry out feasibility studies for proposed works
4. Gather and review data in preparation for energy audits
5. Conduct energy calculations on domestic dwellings
6. Perform quality assessments of energy-efficiency works
7. Complete domestic energy audits, surveys, and reports to a high professional standard
8. Prepare scheme designs, timelines, and work specifications
9. Advise on health and safety aspects of construction
10. Advise on boundary issues and wall placement
11. Provide guidance on environmental impact, sustainability, and energy efficiency
12. Liaise with contractors and subcontractors and coordinate site activities
13. Identify and manage variations arising during surveys
14. Compile and hand over complete project files to Project Managers
15. Support Project Managers during design and construction stages
16. Work collaboratively within a wider team, providing technical support to colleagues and clients
Requirements
17. Proven experience as a Building Surveyor or in a similar technical surveying role
18. Strong knowledge of current building regulations and SEAI guidelines
19. Ability to carry out accurate measurements and produce reliable technical data
20. Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
21. Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
22. Experience preparing technical reports, drawings, and feasibility studies
23. Good IT skills, including MS Office and surveying/reporting software
24. Full, clean driver's licence

25. Recognised BER Assessor qualification or currently undertaking BER Assessor training
