The Digital & Growth Marketing Specialist is responsible for driving lead generation, nurturing, and customer retention through strategic email marketing, social media engagement, and sales enablement initiatives. This role encompasses the entire lifecycle of campaign development, execution, and analysis, requiring a blend of creativity, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of digital marketing best practices. This specialist will report directly to Sumo's Director of Marketing and work closely with sales and the marketing team to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with overall business objectives.
As Sumo Scheduler rebrands itself in January, this person will be part of a team responsible for bringing in significant change, as the marketing department shifts from being traditional to performance based.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Email Marketing (Ownership of Nurture Campaigns):
* Strategy & Planning:
* Develop, manage and execute comprehensive automated email marketing strategies for cold lead nurturing, PQL/SQL nurturing, and customer retention.
* Segment audiences and personalize email campaigns based on behavior, demographics, and lifecycle stage.
* Establish and maintain email marketing best practices, including deliverability, compliance, and design.
* Create and manage email campaign calendars.
* Content Creation & Execution:
* Write compelling and engaging email copy that drives action.
* Design visually appealing email templates and layouts.
* Implement A/B testing to optimize email performance (subject lines, content, CTAs).
* Manage email automation workflows and trigger-based campaigns through the SUMO Salesforce CRM and marketing platform.
* Build and maintain email contact distribution lists, ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
* Performance Analysis & Reporting:
* Monitor email campaign performance metrics (open rates, click-through rates, conversion rates, unsubscribe rates).
* Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
* Generate regular reports on email marketing performance and ROI.
* Optimize email sends for optimal delivery times.
2. Social Media & Community Growth:
* Strategy & Content Planning:
* Develop and implement social media strategies for LinkedIn and Twitter to increase brand awareness, engagement, and lead generation.
* Create and manage social media content calendars.
* Identify and engage with relevant online communities and influencers.
* Content Creation & Execution:
* Create engaging social media content, including text posts, images, videos, and infographics.
* Write compelling social media copy that aligns with performance goals.
* Work with design tools to create social content; collaborate with designers if needed.
* Schedule and publish social media content across platforms.
* Monitor social media for brand mentions and engage with users.
* Community Management:
* Encourage community growth and engagement.
* Respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

* Analyze social media performance and identify trends.
* Generate regular reports on social media engagement and reach.

3. Sales Enablement:
* Collateral Development:
* Collaborate with the sales team to develop effective sales collateral, including decks, one-pagers, case studies, and presentations.
* Ensure that sales collateral is aligned with brand messaging and target audience needs.
* Create visually compelling and persuasive sales materials.
* Maintain an organized library of sales collateral.
* Sales Support:
* Assist sales with creating customized presentations.
* Provide sales with data and insights to help close deals.
* Help to train sales on the use of marketing materials.
