Residential Social Care Teamlead Leamlara
Purpose of Role: With a vibrant team and rapidly growing business supporting individuals and families, Barrog Healthcare is looking for a candidate with considerable knowledge and experience of working in the field of residential and social care. Applicants must have at least three years’ experience in a social care grade working with people with disabilities.
The Team Lead will assist the Deputy Manager and Residential Manager in delivering a quality, client‑focused residential service. The role involves managing and planning entry and exit of service, supporting clients within a person‑centred residential service, implementing HIQA regulations and standards, and ensuring a high‑quality, customer‑focused experience. The Team Lead will promote dignity, respect and unconditional positive regard for all clients.

Job Title: Residential Teamlead

Location of Post: Our residential centre in Leamlara, East Cork, near Middleton
Reporting Relationship: The Residential Teamlead reports to the Deputy Manager
Salary: €20.00 to €23.19 per hour, dependent on experience
Working Hours: 12‑hour shifts, 3 days one week, 4 days the next week (Monday‑Sunday)
Job Type: Full time, Permanent
Vetting: All applicants will be subject to Garda Vetting and security clearance requests for any country lived in for more than six months after the age of 16

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Manage the day‑to‑day delivery of a truly person‑centred service for all clients
Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational, logistical and IT skills
Support staff, maintain rotas, train, lead, supervise, coordinate support/care plans and facilitate communication across shifts
Document information and complete paperwork as required for client delivery
Liaise with families and other personnel as directed by the Service Manager
Ensure all care practices comply with legislation, National Standards for Residential Centres and best practice
Promote high standards of physical care, hygiene and safety for all residents
Develop, implement and monitor individual care plans in line with agreed standards
Maintain positive working relationships with parents, family members, social workers, teachers, doctors and other professionals
Provide flexibility for shift work due to the 24/7 nature of the role

Management

Provide professional supervision to staff and participate in staff appraisal per Barrog Healthcare policies
Support day and night staff teams, undertaking a variety of shift lengths as per rosters
Assist staff in producing high‑quality written reports and ensuring accurate record‑keeping
Continually develop own professional knowledge and skills by attending training and study days aligned with the staff development and training plan

Eligibility Criteria
Qualifications and Experience

A Level 7/8 qualification in Social Care or a relevant field (Psychology, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Youth and Community Work, Social Work, Social Sciences, Teaching & Nursing)
Minimum of three years’ experience at a Social Care Grade in a residential centre or health and social care
Understanding of registration requirements under HIQA National Standards for Residential Services
Minimum of one year’s supervisory experience (advantage)
Proficiency in ICT, including Microsoft Excel and Word, familiarity with Outlook
Full clean driver’s licence
Fluent English and permission to work in the Republic of Ireland

Skills, Competencies and Professional Knowledge
Professional Knowledge: Good understanding of policy, legislative and professional requirements to ensure an appropriate service delivery standard (e.g. Child Care Act 1991, Aftercare National Policy, Children First Guidelines, Vulnerable Adults National Policy, HIQA regulations). Ability to treat the client group in a non‑judgemental, trauma‑informed way with respect at all times. Initiative and adaptability to a changing environment. Experience in designing staff rotas for day, evening and night shifts.
Experience of individuals with disabilities: Facilitation, implementation, and review of Support/Care Plans.
Competencies
