About HPEC RCSI's Health Professions Education Centre (HPEC) provides healthcare professionals with a wide range of teaching, learning and educational research opportunities, from formal qualifications to in-house training sessions. The Centre also helps RCSI educators generate new knowledge about health professions education and focuses on bringing this to an international audience through educational research and via conference attendance and academic publications. HPEC has embarked on an ambitious strategic plan, expanding its range of externally facing postgraduate qualifications designed to meet the learning needs of health professions educators in a global context. It also seeks to facilitate an educational culture within RCSI of educational expertise to inform and improve the healthcare curricula to ensure graduates are prepared for practice nationally and internationally. HPEC wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Health Professions Education in the HPEC team to lead the expansion of the PGDip and the development of a Masters in Health Professions Education. Objective of this post The Lecturer in Health Professions Education will contribute to the development, delivery, and enhancement of RCSI's health professions education programmes, with a primary focus on Graduate Diploma and Masters in Health Professions Education. The successful candidate will be scholarly educator and an emerging institutional leader in teaching and learning. We are seeking a highly motivated individual from a Health Professions Education background, with experience in the development and delivery of academic postgraduate health professions education programmes. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, experienced, and innovative educator and leader, who works well within a diverse, multicultural academic setting. Specific responsibilities Contribute to the development, implementation, and enhancement of the Graduate Diploma and Masters in HPE and support new and existing health professions education programmes. Contribute to the HPEC Strategy by driving faculty development initiatives, including the Peer Observation of Teaching programme and Educational Hub. Conduct high quality educational research that informs directions at RCSI and nationally and internationally. Publish in high impact journals Promote evidence-based, innovative teaching and learning practices across RCSI. Lead and publish educational research to advance knowledge in health professions education. Other responsibilities Promote the highest standards of professional practice in all areas of responsibility. Undertake other responsibilities as required and appropriate to the grade. Candidate Specification: Essential PhD in an area relevant to health professions education Relevant postgraduate qualification in education Significant experience with online learning Experience in designing and delivering a programme of health professions education Proven track record and commitment to research Proven track record of publications in high impact journals Experience delivering faculty development Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to build and maintain internal and external networks Candidate Specification: Desirable Previous experience in a postgraduate programme in health professions education Minimum of three years' professional experience in faculty development Current, relevant experience in academic, health or social care environments Track record of gaining research grants The Process: Interview and presentation Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a formal competence-based interview and presentation.
