The Opportunity
The Senior-level Architect will help shape the future direction of a large-scale enterprise platform while remaining heavily involved in hands‑on engineering and technical decision‑making. This is not a purely strategic or governance‑focused position, the role requires someone who still enjoys coding, building, and validating solutions directly within production environments. You will play a key role in modernising complex systems, introducing AI‑driven engineering capabilities, and defining architecture standards across multiple product streams. The environment is heavily focused on scalable cloud‑native solutions, distributed systems, intelligent automation, and enterprise‑grade engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
Lead architectural direction across enterprise platforms, APIs, integrations, and cloud‑native services
Remain actively involved in software engineering, contributing directly to design validation, implementation, and technical problem solving
Drive modernisation initiatives across legacy and distributed systems with measurable business outcomes around scalability, reliability, cost optimisation, and delivery speed
Define platform‑wide technical standards covering APIs, integration strategy, security, governance, and engineering best practices
Work closely with engineering leadership, product teams, and senior stakeholders to align technology strategy with business priorities
Support adoption of AI‑assisted engineering and intelligent automation across development workflows
Design and evolve modern Azure‑based architectures using technologies such as AKS, API Management, Service Bus, and cloud‑native messaging patterns
Guide teams on scalable microservices, event‑driven systems, CI/CD standards, and enterprise delivery practices
Contribute to architecture governance, technical roadmap planning, and vendor oversight across multiple engineering functions
Mentor senior engineers and provide technical leadership across complex delivery programmes
Experience Required
Extensive background in .NET and C# software engineering within enterprise‑scale environments
Proven experience operating in senior architecture or principal engineering roles while remaining highly hands‑on technically
Strong understanding of modern frontend technologies, particularly Angular and TypeScript
Deep experience designing cloud‑native solutions within Azure environments, including containerisation, messaging, orchestration, and API management services
Strong expertise across distributed systems, microservices architecture, event‑driven design, and scalable backend platforms
Commercial experience building and delivering AI‑enabled applications in production environments rather than proof‑of‑concept projects
Exposure to technologies and concepts such as multi‑agent orchestration, RAG pipelines, MCP frameworks, LangGraph, or enterprise AI tooling
Experience using modern AI‑assisted development tools such as Claude, Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar engineering accelerators within daily workflows
Strong SQL Server experience, including performance optimisation, indexing, partitioning, and handling high‑volume datasets at enterprise scale
Proven track record modernising complex legacy platforms with measurable operational or engineering improvements
Strong stakeholder engagement skills with experience contributing to architecture governance, technical standards, and enterprise‑level strategy discussions
Previous experience leading or influencing large engineering teams within complex organisations
