Based in our Wexford Town office, Howden Ireland is delighted to have a vacancy for an Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract. This role is fully based in our Wexford Town Office, five days a week.

Overall Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the IBA Finance Manager, your role will involve working as part of a team responsible for client money and insurer settlement functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory, risk, and compliance requirements within Howden Ireland and acquisition entities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Preparation of Monthly Insurer Accounts, including reconciliation and release of payments.
2. Ensuring timely insurer payments and full premium payments prior to releasing funds.
3. Compiling and releasing schedules of insurer statement queries to executives.
4. Liaising with insurance companies and executives to resolve queries or issues.
5. Lodging funds directly paid to Howden by clients on a daily basis.
6. Understanding the full client banking process, including receipt allocation and posting to insurance systems and accounts software, ensuring daily reconciliation.
7. Completing monthly bank reconciliations and client premium reconciliations.
8. Providing ad-hoc reports for management.
9. Assisting with month-end and post-month-end reconciliations.
10. Adhering to compliance outlined in the Staff Handbook and Procedures Manual.
11. Providing administrative support to the Finance team.
12. Ensuring finance procedures are followed across the business.
13. Involvement or backup within the Premium Finance team.
14. Performing ad-hoc duties as required.

About You:

* Experience working in a finance or administration department is desirable.
* Good IT skills, particularly in Excel, Word, and SAGE.
* Flexible and results-driven.
* Extremely well-organized with excellent time management skills.
* Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and work under pressure in a busy environment.
