Position Overview
MDTA performs operations and maintains toll facilities across Maryland. The Highway Discipline Manager leads and coordinates major highway projects, designs, and studies from the Office of Engineering and Construction.
Responsibilities
Manage, plan, and design complex highway projects including interchange, toll plaza, and rehabilitation works, and conduct highway studies.
Coordinate public involvement, prepare outreach materials, and attend public meetings to address citizen questions.
Review and evaluate technical proposals for consultant contract selection.
Manage contract performance, including schedules, budgets, cost efficiency, and invoice tracking.
Preserve highway pavements and traffic barrier assets.
Work in a hybrid telework schedule as possible and report to the Deputy Director of Engineering.
Qualifications
Three (3) years of experience managing highway engineering projects as a licensed Professional Engineer.
At least two (2) years of supervisory experience over engineering staff or design teams.
Extensive highway design and project management experience, including development and review of plans, specifications, estimates, permitting, and procurement.
Two (2) years of experience in the Federal Government.
Possession of a Maryland Professional Engineer license (or acceptable out‑of‑state license, with evidence, and requirement to obtain MD license within 12 months).
Valid Maryland motor‑vehicle operator’s license if duties require vehicle operation.
