Where you will be working
At the Dublin Waste to Energy Facility in Poolbeg, Dublin 4, operational since 2017, diverting over 600,000 tonnes of waste annually and powering over 100,000 homes.
We seek Shift Operators responsible for the safe and efficient operation of plant equipment, including boilers, turbines, fans, pumps, ash handling, and water treatment systems, working outdoors and wearing protective gear.
Responsibilities
Summary
Under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor, responsible for the safe operation of systems and equipment on a rotating shift basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Maintain safety, environmental standards, and equipment operation.
* Record data, inspect equipment, perform minor maintenance, and report malfunctions.
* Understand process variables, control and troubleshoot them.
* Respond to abnormal conditions or emergencies.
* Handle waste and ash, keep areas clean, perform chemistry testing, and oversee chemical loading.
* Participate in plant cleaning and support maintenance activities.
* Train as a Control Room Operator and assist in developing operational procedures.
* Work effectively in a team, take ownership of processes, and drive troubleshooting and improvements.
* Maintain cleanliness and safety in work areas.
Work Environment
Employees will encounter moving parts, high places, weather conditions, confined spaces, fumes, chemicals, heat, electrical risks, and vibration, with varying noise levels. Reasonable accommodations are available for disabilities.
Qualifications
* Leaving Certificate; engineering qualifications are advantageous; experience with steam plants or heavy machinery preferred.
* Ability to read technical documents and communicate effectively.
* Mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
* Ability to follow detailed instructions.
* CSCS card for Forklift/MEWP is beneficial.
* Ability to act safely and prevent damage or injury during emergencies.
