1. This role presents an excellent opportunity to work in a progressive and supportive laboratory team, contributing to the delivery of high-quality diagnostic Haematology services.
">
2. The ideal candidate will have experience in Haematology and be registered with CORU as a Medical Scientist.
">
3. The selected individual will be responsible for performing a broad range of Haematology investigations, processing and validating patient samples, and operating and maintaining Haematology laboratory equipment.
">
4. Additionally, the successful candidate will monitor internal quality control results, participate in external quality assurance programs, and troubleshoot technical issues.
">
5. Maintaining accurate records and participating in audit processes are also essential responsibilities of this position.
">
6. Furthermore, the successful candidate will engage in continuous professional development, participate in training of junior staff or students if required, and contribute to departmental meetings and evaluations.
">
7. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
">
8. A demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and compliance with Health & Safety and data protection requirements are necessary for this role.

9. Responsibilities:
">
">
10. Performing a broad range of Haematology investigations in accordance with departmental protocols and quality standards.
">
11. Processing and validating patient samples using manual and automated methods in areas such as Full Blood Counts, Coagulation testing, and Blood Film analysis.
">
12. Operating and maintaining Haematology laboratory equipment, ensuring daily QC and preventative maintenance are performed and documented.
">
13. Monitoring and assessing internal quality control results and participating in external quality assurance programs.
">
14. Troubleshooting technical issues and escalating to senior staff or service engineers where necessary.
">
15. Participating in out-of-hours and on-call rota as required.
">
16. Recording, interpreting, and verifying results, and bringing abnormal or unexpected results to the attention of senior staff or clinicians promptly.
">
17. Assisting in the implementation and maintenance of INAB/ISO 15189 standards and contributing to ongoing quality improvement.
">
18. Maintaining accurate records and participating in audit processes and laboratory accreditation preparation.
">
19. Complying with Health and Safety regulations and assisting in identifying and managing laboratory risks.
">
20. Engaging in continuous professional development and participating in training of junior staff or students, if required.
">
21. Contributing to departmental meetings, service reviews, and evaluations.
">
22. Requirements:
">
">
23. Hold a BSc in Medical Science (Clinical Measurement) or equivalent qualification recognized by CORU.
">
24. Be registered or eligible for registration with CORU as a Medical Scientist.
">
25. Minimum 1-year post-qualification experience in a Haematology laboratory setting (essential).
">
26. Proven competence in the operation and maintenance of automated Haematology analysers and associated technologies.
">
27. Strong understanding of laboratory quality systems, including ISO 15189 standards.
">
28. Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
">
29. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
">
30. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
