Civil Design Engineer – Blanchardstown, Ballycoolin Business Park, Dublin
About the Role
Reporting to the CSA Design Manager, the Civil Design Engineer will be a senior member of the Project Team. The role involves managing design packages from initial review through estimation, procurement, planning and handover for execution on site. The engineer will support end‑to‑end project deliverables, prioritise, coordinate and deliver compliant building facilities, and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
Collaborate with architects, engineers and construction managers to develop project plans and ensure on‑schedule delivery.
Collaborate with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, estimators, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project.
Liaise with clients and third parties such as insurance companies and vendors.
Develop scope‑of‑works, task information deliverables and responsibility matrices for civil discipline.
Raise design‑related risks to planning, commercial and management and mitigate their impact.
Maintain accurate records of key design activities and escalations.
Assist central engineering and site teams with proactive construction and team matters.
Attend design meetings and provide optimisation input.
Collaborate on new design issues, changes and research within the team.
Assist with new tenders and pre‑construction services agreements within the Business Unit.
Project Management & Planning
Oversee construction process to ensure adherence to design specifications and schedules.
Assist in developing design delivery schedules with client, project manager, design team and consultants.
Manage the approval process of design packages for procurement.
Ensure design programmes align with consultant resources and construction requirements.
Conduct site visits and report progress and quality.
Follow information control standards for RFIs, BIM360, etc.
Technical Engineering
Ensure civil technical compliance on all projects.
Apply client and country‑specific design standards.
Analyse geotechnical, SI reports and surveys.
Coordinate civil with substructural design.
Assess and mitigate risks identified in design or affecting construction.
Review proposals for suitability and constructability.
Propose added value and off‑site manufacturing options.
Use CAD and BIM software to create detailed civil designs.
Select materials aligned to project requirements, budget and QEHS standards.
Prepare handover packs for packages under responsibility.
Coordinate civil discipline interfaces with MEP, structure and architecture.
Verify drawings, quantities for accuracy.
Manage contract design documents, identify statutory engagement requirements.
Sustainability
Integrate sustainable practices into design and construction.
Evaluate environmental impact and propose improvement options.
Documentation
Prepare reports and documentation for project approval and permits.
Maintain accurate records of progress and changes.
Manage key registers: procurement schedule, tech sub register, drawing register, RFI log, deviation tracker, lessons learnt log, issues, interface & scope gap trackers, design change tracker.
Other
Provide technical guidance to construction teams.
Review and submit technical submittals.
Assist with recruitment activities for the Central Engineering team if deemed suitable.
Undertake other engineering tasks or duties as directed by the CSA Design Manager or Central Engineering Manager.

Essential Criteria
Minimum 5 years post‑graduate experience in the Industrial, Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences or Data Centre sectors.
In-depth knowledge of statutory consent processes and building regulations.
Demonstrable design, technical and construction knowledge.
Experience leading meetings and coordinating teams.
Strong knowledge of civil design and analysis software such as BIM, Revit, Civil 3D or equivalent.
