We're partnering with a major public body to find a Regional Manager who is a strategic operations leader to head up the Eastern Metro region – covering key assets like Grand Canal Docks and Spencer Dock. This role is based out of our clients Dublin 15 office with 3 days of working from home available.
Role Summary:
This is a strategic and operational leadership role, responsible for the day-to-day management, development, and maintenance of key canal infrastructure. You'll manage a diverse team with 37 staff (technical, operational, and admin staff) reporting to you and play a vital role in shaping and delivering the Dublin Development Strategy.
You'll drive performance across customer service, stakeholder engagement, and financial oversight—leading a region with major environmental, recreational, and infrastructure significance.

Key Focus Areas
11. Lead operations and infrastructure management for a high-profile region

Responsibilities:
15. Contribute to strategic direction and corporate planning as part of the Senior Management Team.
16. Lead regional business planning aligned with national goals and the Dublin Development Strategy.
17. Work cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders to enhance regional asset value.
18. Develop and manage partnerships and secure funding for capital works and recreational improvements.
19. Oversee contractor performance to meet operational objectives.
20. Lead on Health & Safety compliance, governance, and best practices across the region.
21. Collaborate on workforce planning, succession, and resource allocation to drive operational efficiency.
22. Manage financial and capital resources including forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.
23. Maintain and enhance physical assets and infrastructure in line with business needs.
24. Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams to achieve performance and development goals.
25. Represent the organisation in engagements with local authorities, public representatives, and funding partners.
26. Promote the organisation at external events and seek strategic investment opportunities.
27. Uphold equality policies and ensure compliance with all organisational standards.
28. Complete required training and professional development as part of ongoing compliance.
Requirements:
29. Degree (Level 8) in Civil/Structural Engineering or Business/Public Management.
30. Minimum 5 years' senior management experience in sectors such as infrastructure, water resources, construction, or engineering.
31. Must have the right to work in Ireland.
32. Full driving licence for regional travel.
33. Strong understanding of complex operational management across multidisciplinary teams and large budgets.
34. Proven success in managing and delivering large-scale infrastructure projects.
35. Ability to build and maintain strategic stakeholder partnerships.
36. Track record in leading, motivating, and developing high-performing teams.
37. Solid experience managing Health & Safety compliance in construction or maintenance environments.
38. Desirable: Chartered Engineer, Project Management qualification, or a Master's in Business/Public Admin
