Role Purpose
As a Supply Chain Graduate you will review requisitions for materials and services, secure quotations, place orders, and ensure that all internal processes and procedures are followed. You will contribute to continuous improvement while supporting the delivery of quality projects on time and within budget.
Key Functions
Review requisitions for materials/services on assigned projects.
Secure quotations, negotiate with vendors for optimal value (cost, payment terms, quality, service).
Adhere to procurement procedures while respecting time constraints.
Perform expediting activities requested by project teams.
Highlight risk and supply issues to the project team.
Manage vendors and maintain good working relationships.
Build strong inter‑departmental relationships.
Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers.
Record all procurement requirements/transactions on the ERP system.
Interface with finance regarding invoice queries related to price/quantity discrepancies.
Support a culture of continuous improvement.
Work harmoniously with the procurement team and contribute to a positive team environment.
Support activities that enhance efficient, productive, and continuously improving supply‑chain performance.
Responsibilities
Serve as the point of contact for the project team for all low‑spend material procurement issues; escalates unresolved issues to the Capex Procurement Manager.
Secure quotations for materials and place orders in a timely manner.
Liaise with the project team regarding specifications, quantities, or special delivery requirements prior to placing orders.
Provide “site‑based” procurement support if requested by the Capex Procurement Manager.
Provide clear communication to the project team about delivery or manufacturing delays advised by suppliers.
Work with suppliers and the project team to rectify and provide solutions when potential delays risk project schedule disruption.
Escalate risk items to the Capex Procurement Manager promptly.
Seek new opportunities to improve service for internal customers.
Perform activities typical of a Junior Procurement Specialist as required.
Required Qualifications
Relevant third‑level qualification in Purchasing, Supply Chain or a related discipline.
Ability to multitask, prioritise, meet deadlines and manage time efficiently.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organisational and attention‑to‑detail skills.
Demonstrated sound judgement and ability to work independently.
Experience maintaining electronic administrative and information systems.
Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Time‑management skills essential for a busy schedule.
Example of enthusiasm, loyalty and hard work in the performance of all duties.
Desired Competencies / Special Requirements
Up to 1 year’s experience in a procurement role.
Desirable, but not required, ERP experience (training will be provided).
