Position Summary
Based in Gweedore, Co. Donegal this position is responsible to meet the goals and objectives of the organization by assisting in planning and implementing an EHS Excellence program while ensuring compliance with all governmental EHS regulations.
Essential Duties and Tasks
* Designs and implements EHS policies and procedures including, but not limited to, written programs, recordkeeping, reports, inspections, monitoring, testing.
* Ensure compliance with all local EHS regulations by staying informed about changes, interpreting requirements, and implementing necessary adjustments to programs, processes, and policies.
* Deliver EHS training programs to employees at all levels, to ensure employees' knowledge, understanding and adherence to safety & environmental regulations pertaining to all facilities.
* Conduct and document regular EHS audits and inspections as needed to assure compliance with applicable permits, regulations, and requirements.Coordinate visits from internal and external regulatory authorities and file annual local EPA environmental reports potentially including air, waste, water etc
* Coordination and completion of environmental tasks to ensure regulatory compliance with IPC Licence, including but not limited to:
VOC Abatement monitoring & reporting
Storm Water sampling & monitoring
Waste Management Streams monitoring - Hazard & Non-Hazard Waste
Provision of reports to the EPA – e.g. AER, SMP, EPR and collation of data for same.
* Responsibility for new licence applications/technical amendments, as required.
* Assist site safety committee with inspections to assess compliance with policies and regulations, identifying, determining, and implementing, corrective and preventative measures for areas with existing or potential accident and health hazards.
* Assist in the management of all site EHS programs, including cost control/reduction and accident prevention/ reduction, safety behaviour audit, and risk assessment programs
* Assist with the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and EPA environmental regulations.
* Working with the ProAmpac team in Implementation of Environmental, energy and sustainability objectives and targets.
* Establish and promote a culture of continuous improvement in EHS performance by evaluating existing programs, identifying areas for enhancement, and coordinating development of and EHS improvement strategic plan, collaborating with site managers.
* Analyse safety history, manufacturing processes, product machinery, and chemical exposures to determine safety hazards, identify trends, and develop safety strategies to correct and prevent potential accidents or health hazards.
* Treat all information as proprietary ensuring the strictest controls and discretion are applied to confidential information.
* Chair the weekly safety meeting assigning responsibility for closure to the relevant party, ensure minutes are updated and published in a timely way.
* Updating all environmental data to the EDEN portal, as required.
* Champion a safe working environment, ensuring that all Health & Safety requirements and procedures are adhered to.

The Ideal Candidate
* A qualification in Environmental Studies with experience in Health and Safety
* 2+ years experience in a manufacturing environment desirable
* Experience of communicating with the HSA, EPA and other regulatory bodies (County Council, Inland Fisheries Ireland etc)
* Experience in interpreting regulatory standards
* MS Office Suite proficiency
* Co-operative Teamwork - ability to engage with employees, CEHS, External Stakeholders at all levels
* Ability to identify problems and create innovative solutions and opportunities for improvement
* Excellent attention to detail, record management and strong leadership to deliver result
* Can do attitude with an ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team
