The Role

We’re entering the next chapter of our growth — scaling fast and building with intensity. To support this, we’re hiring our first Head of Finance to build out the finance function.

This isn’t a back-office role. You’ll be a core part of the leadership team, working directly with the CEO and SLT to bring rigor, clarity, and transparency to how we plan, operate, and grow. From owning our financial operations to helping shape strategic decisions, you’ll play a foundational role in our path from Series A to beyond.

Head of Finance at Kota is a Central Bank of Ireland pre–approved PCF (Pre-Approval Controlled Function) role. You’ll be officially recognised as “fit and proper” to help lead a regulated insurance intermediary—accountable not just for scaling our operations, but for doing so with the right controls, systems, and governance in place.

What You’ll Do

* Build and run our finance engine: Own all core financial operations — including cashflow management, revenue & commissions recognition, payroll & EoR, accounts payable, expense management and related financial controls.

* Drive strategic planning: Lead budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning across the business. Partner with the CEO and leadership team on business model evolution, hiring plans, and growth strategy.

* Level up internal reporting: Design and deliver clear, consistent financial reporting that helps the team make better decisions — and keeps investors and board aligned.

* Install scalable systems: Introduce tools, processes, and automations that bring structure without friction. Own and evolve our finance tech stack.

* Lead regulatory reporting: Manage tax, regulatory, audit and company secretarial responsibilities with external partners. Ensure we’re operating with integrity and readiness as we scale across jurisdictions.

* Be our external finance voice: Represent the company in front of investors, partners, and auditors. Lead or support future fundraising processes from a financial perspective.

* Set the standard: Establish the mindset, pace, and quality bar for finance at a company that’s growing quickly and operating in a regulated space.

Who You Are

* Startup-proven: You’ve built or scaled finance functions at high-growth tech companies — ideally in SaaS, fintech, or in a regulated environment. You know how to build from zero, and you thrive in ambiguity.

* Full-stack operator: You’re equally comfortable running payroll as you are building board-ready forecasts. You don’t need a team to make things happen

* Exceptionally structured: You bring clarity to chaos. You simplify complexity. You communicate clearly, make tradeoffs fast, and operate with high trust.

* Commercially minded: You understand how finance supports growth — not just tracking metrics, but shaping decisions around pricing, hiring, and GTM strategy.
