What you’ll be doing
Verizon is in the process of modernizing our core networks to enable new, groundbreaking products and technologies. In this position, you will be responsible for Center Engineering and Vendor Management for various build initiatives across the IP network. You will engineer and manage multiple simultaneous projects, maintaining involvement throughout the life cycle of a build, in particular to resolve technical issues as they present themselves. As a leader, you will be managing a team of Engineers and coordinating the design and deployment of management network components.
Key Responsibilities Include
Developing an understanding of your team workflow and become their source for trouble resolution (technical, system, and interpersonal). Provide mentorship to the team through ongoing performance management.
Maintaining established technical standards, providing accurate forecasting of deployment targets, generating reports to identify systemic issues, and monitoring internal metrics to ensure efficient performance levels are achieved.
Overseeing the creation of detailed, often complex, technical installation instructions (I‑SPECs) for new and existing technologies as per Standards. Ensure engineering instructions include project‑specific details such as equipment configurations, card/port assignments, power mapping and sizing, copper/fiber cable running lists, and detailed major/minor Bills of Materials (BOM).
Ensuring all engineering documentation (including ICON/CND, CCP, Canvas, VENUe, etc.) is accurate and up‑to‑date for use by cross‑functional teams like Install, Test, Operations, Provisioning, and Audit. Oversee the creation of Shopping carts, Telephone Equipment Orders (TEOs), and Project Supplements for appropriate financial budget management.
Collaborating with Center Engineering, Field Engineering, Operations, Project Managers, and other Implementation organizations to ensure early identification of issues and timely reporting of status.
Negotiating and coordinating overall project schedules for Engineering activities, Construction start dates, and completion dates. Facilitate and maintain relationships with multiple service vendors (including third‑party turf vendors), ensuring pricing compliance, standards compliance, and conducting periodic quality and performance reviews.
Managing multiple Capacity Creation Requests for new hardware deployments, reconfigurations, First Office Application (FOA) projects, and decommissioning activities to free space/power and generate cost savings.
You’ll Need To Have
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent experience.
Experience communicating with and managing multiple stakeholders, while also delivering on own projects.
Experience communicating complex technical ideas in a clear and concise manner.
Experience solving complex issues.
You are self‑driven with experience in design and implementation of complex and distributed systems. You have a passion for seeking engineering excellence and adopting new technologies. You are not afraid to drive for success by working with multi‑functional teams.

Previous leadership experience in an engineering role.
Knowledge of one or more of the following technical domains:
SONET, DWDM and Long Haul Transport Systems.
Backbone Routing and Switching systems.
Physical Server Deployments.
Telecom Installation Experience—hands‑on or remotely directed.
