Overview
Our client is seeking a suitably qualified Consultant Radiologist to join their team.
Responsibilities
* Clinical Duties:
o Provide a comprehensive diagnostic radiology service including plain film, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and fluoroscopy.
o Perform image-guided procedures (biopsies, drainages, etc.) as required by the hospital's service scope.
o Provide timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate radiology reports.
* Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Involvement:
o Participate in and contribute to MDT meetings (e.g., oncology, orthopaedics, GI, etc.).
o Collaborate with referring clinicians to optimize patient care and diagnostic strategy.
* On-call Service:
o Participate in the on-call rota (frequency varies by hospital).
o Provide urgent and emergency imaging interpretation outside of normal working hours.
* Governance and Quality:
o Ensure compliance with HIQA standards and local protocols.
o Engage in audit, peer review, and quality improvement initiatives.
o Maintain a safe and efficient radiology department in collaboration with radiographers and radiology nurses.
* Teaching & Training:
o Teach and supervise junior doctors, radiographers, and medical students.
o Participate in postgraduate medical education and CME activities.
* Administrative:
o Maintain clinical records and comply with GDPR and HSE data protection policies.
o Assist in service planning, including equipment upgrades and workflow improvements.
Eligibility
To be eligible, you must:
* Professional Registration:
o Be registered (or be eligible to register) as a Consultant in the Specialist Division of the Medical Council of Ireland, in the Specialty of Radiology.
* Experience:
o Sufficient experience in general radiology (usually a minimum of 5 years post-graduate, with 2 years in specialty training).
o Fellowship training in a subspecialty (e.g., breast, MSK, neuro, GI, interventional) is desirable.
* Language Requirement:
o Demonstrate proficiency in English.
o Desirable Skills and Attributes
o Subspecialty interest aligned with hospital needs (e.g., Breast Imaging, Neuroradiology, Paediatrics, Interventional Radiology).
o Proven ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
o Willingness to engage in service development and quality assurance.
