EirGrid Group is owned by the Irish State and our business activities are, where applicable, regulated by the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities in Ireland, and the Utility Regulator for Northern Ireland.EirGrid Group has a unique role to play in leading the radical transformation that is required of the electricity sector on the island to low-carbon, renewable energy in response to the urgent imperative of Climate Change Action.This is reflected in our Purpose "Transform the Power System for Future Generation" and in the primary goal of our recently launched strategy "Lead the Island's Electricity Sector on Sustainability and Decarbonisation".The Chief Governance Office is a directorate within the Group with a mission of ensuring that the highest standards of excellence are maintained in the delivery of risk management, governance, legal, compliance and company secretarial activities and initiatives.The OpportunityThe Senior Resilience Specialist will be a key strategic partner in shaping and embedding EirGrid's enterprise-wide business resilience capability. This role goes beyond operational continuity to proactively strengthen organisational adaptability and safeguard the delivery of EirGrid's critical services/mission in a rapidly evolving risk landscape.The role holder will design and lead the business resilience framework, ensuring resilience principles are integrated into business planning and strategy, investment decisions, and transformation initiatives. They will champion a forward-looking approach to anticipate emerging threats, leverage scenario planning, and build organisational capacity to respond to complex disruptions—ranging from major technology incidents and supply chain challenges to geopolitical and climate-related physical risks.The Senior Resilience Specialist will work across multiple directorates to strengthen the EirGrid's ability to adapt, recover, and maintain service delivery during adverse events. The role holder will chair the Business Resilience Forum, challenging and influencing relevant Heads of Function and Directors on their resilience pillars across all Chief Offices, while orchestrating a multi-year integrated strategic programme for business resilience.Key ResponsibilitiesResilience Strategy Development and ImplementationShape and lead EirGrid's business resilience framework, ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives and the evolving energy landscape.Oversee the integration of resilience objectives into the design and operation of critical infrastructure, systems, and processes to minimize disruptions.Influence major investment and transformation initiatives, ensuring resilience considerations are central to technology deployments, infrastructure development, and energy transition projects.Ensure that resilience principles are embedded within the organization's risk management framework and aligned with industry standards.Champion a forward-looking approach, leveraging scenario planning and emerging risk intelligence to anticipate and mitigate future disruptions.Business Continuity and Crisis LeadershipSet the direction for EirGrid's business continuity and crisis management capabilities, ensuring alignment with EirGrid priorities and regulatory expectations.Design and govern enterprise-wide continuity and crisis plans, embedding resilience into critical operations and decision-making processes.Lead high-impact crisis simulations and resilience exercises, driving preparedness and strengthening leadership response across the organization.Provide executive-level guidance during disruptions, ensuring rapid, coordinated recovery and safeguarding system reliability and stakeholder confidence.Continuously evolve continuity and crisis strategies, leveraging lessons learned, emerging risk intelligence, and global best practices to maintain sector-leading resilience.Risk Management and Resilience IntegrationDrive the alignment of resilience and risk management, ensuring resilience considerations are embedded within frameworks and decision-making processes.Partner with leadership to influence risk prioritisation and investment, reducing exposure to critical vulnerabilities across operations and the supply chain.Integrate resilience into business planning and operational risk assessments, enabling proactive identification and mitigation of emerging threats.Champion a holistic approach to risk and resilience, leveraging data-driven insights & scenario analysis to strengthen EirGrid's long-term adaptability & performance.Resilience Intelligence & ReportingEstablish an appropriate resilience intelligence capability, monitoring external trends, geopolitical shifts, and emerging risks that could impact EirGrid's operations and strategic objectives.Deliver actionable insights to senior leadership, forming analysis of vulnerabilities, resilience performance, and recommendations for mitigation and investment.Ensure robust governance and transparency, maintaining accurate documentation of resilience plans, incident responses, and compliance reporting to meet regulatory and audit requirements.Stakeholder Engagement and CollaborationBuild and sustain influential relationships across all directorates, fostering a culture of resilience and influencing behaviours and decision-making.Engage proactively with external stakeholders—including regulators, government agencies, and key suppliers—to align resilience practices with industry-leading standards and regulatory requirements.Lead cross-functional resilience forum, driving collaboration, knowledge sharing, and coordinated implementation of strategic resilience initiatives.Continuous Improvement and InnovationLead the identification and implementation of leading practices for improving business resilience and continuity across EirGrid.Stay up to date with global trends, innovations, and technologies in resilience, including developments in energy systems and emerging technologies like AI.Training and AwarenessDevelop and deliver targeted training programs on business continuity, crisis management, and resilience to ensure staff are equipped to respond.Raise awareness of resilience-related risks, plans and processes throughout the organization, fostering a culture of preparedness and proactive risk mitigation.About YouMinimum of 5-7 years of experience in resilience roles.Qualified to degree level or professional qualification in a relevant discipline.Professional certifications in business continuity or resilience is desirable.Experience in designing, implementing and/or overseeing business resilience and/or business continuity frameworks, programmes and processes.Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.Skilled in stakeholder management and influencing at all levels while maintaining strong credibility and relationships.Ability to take information and present it to stakeholders in a non-complex mannerAbility to multi-task and prioritise under pressure of deadlines, whilst working independently.Prior experience working in the
