Job Description
A Quantity Surveyor is sought by a leading provider of high and medium voltage electrical design, installation, inspection, commissioning and maintenance services.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the tendering/estimating team, responsible for coordinating big and pre-contract activities.
This includes reviewing project documentation, taking-off projects, handing over and presenting tender bids to teams.
The Quantity Surveyor will also be responsible for checking and acknowledging tender documents and amendments, abstracting information into subcontract and material packages.
Selecting subcontract and material suppliers, ensuring tendering processes are fully implemented, entering pricing documents onto estimating systems and rating up pricing documents.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent project management and organisational skills, with a keen eye for detail and strong Microsoft Office package skills and knowledge.
They will also have strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Coordinate big and pre-contract activities
2. Review project documentation
3. Taking-off projects
4. Handing over and presenting tender bids
5. Checking and acknowledging tender documents and amendments
6. Abstracting information into subcontract and material packages
7. Selecting subcontract and material suppliers
8. Ensuring tendering processes are fully implemented
9. Entering pricing documents onto estimating systems
10. Rating up pricing documents
11. Answering queries from subcontractors/suppliers
12. Liaising with Clients Team during tender process and arranging meetings as required
13. Identifying scope for design alternatives and value engineering, discussing with appropriate bid team members
14. Appraising sub-contractor/supplier quotations
15. Pricing up Prelims, in conjunction with management
16. Highlighting any areas of concern/risk in cost proposal
17. Completing Form of Tender and tender letter with any qualifications
18. Entering final tender information in tender log and ensuring it is maintained
19. Preparing information packages for handover to construction team, if successful
20. Attending handover meeting and briefing team on tender bid
21. Developing client/specifier relationships to enhance opportunities to tender, negotiate and enhance tender margins
22. Attending post-tender negotiations with Client
23. Cost planning
24. Undertaking project debrief, eliciting feedback from sites, to improve construction
25. Identification of project-related risks
26. Developing Supply Chain
