Role Summary
Senior R&D Engineer – Peripheral Vascular Health (PVH) operating unit, Medtronic R&D, Galway, Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all stages of product development from concept generation through commercialization of innovative medical devices.
Design and develop new medical devices from initial concept, through design freeze, verification, validation, and commercialization.
Translate basic clinical need into opportunity assessment, device concept, and prototype.
Engage physicians to distill their needs into product requirements and concepts.
Participate in technical innovation across the department.
Identify and mitigate technological risks throughout the design process.
Apply knowledge of anatomy & physiology alongside engineering principles in materials and processes to produce working designs.
Collaborate with team members, other staff, and key technology and component suppliers, locally and globally.
Address technical obstacles in existing designs and support portfolio sustaining activities.
Contribute to generation of intellectual property.
Delegate and direct work of experienced engineers.
Provide coaching and guidance to less experienced team members.
Key Skills & Experience
Level 8 Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline with minimum four years of direct engineering experience in a medical device environment.
Dynamic team player with proactive cross‑functional collaboration and problem‑solving skills.
Medical device product development experience desirable.
Technical experience in DOE (Design of Experiments), Six Sigma, DFM, etc.
Experience interfacing with physicians and translating feedback into device concepts.

Competitive salary range (Ireland): €64,640.00 – €96,960.00. Eligible for a short‑term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). Flexible benefits package.
