Overview
To operate a loading shovel safely and efficiently to support the delivery of road surfacing materials, ensuring materials are loaded and managed in line with company standards, health & safety regulations, and project requirements.
Role: Quarry Driver/Machine Driver – Arkil Ltd
Key Responsibilities
* Operate loading shovel to move, load, and distribute aggregates, asphalt, and other surfacing materials in our quarry.
* Carry out daily machine checks, routine maintenance, and report any defects or issues promptly.
* Ensure safe loading of materials in accordance with weight limits and operational procedures.
* Work closely with site teams to ensure materials are supplied efficiently to trucks, and stockpiles.
* Maintain a clean and safe working area, ensuring compliance with company health, safety, and environmental policies.
* Assist with general site duties when required, yard organisation, and stock control.
* Follow site supervisor instructions.
Skills & Competencies
* Competent and experienced in operating a loading shovel.
* Knowledge of aggregates, asphalt, and surfacing materials desirable.
* Strong awareness of health & safety, especially around heavy plant.
* Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues.
* Flexibility and reliability, with a positive attitude to work.
Qualifications & Requirements
* CSCS/QSCS card
* Previous experience in quarry, or construction environments preferred.
* Full Irish driving licence.
