Harrington Group are recruiting for a Fabrication Workshop Manager in a Quarry Setting to join our team in our Kilkelly HQ. You will be flexible, both in terms of working environment and site location. This is a permanent role with a 6-month probationary period. This job will suit an organised individual who has experience in managing a team, who is highly collaborative with strong interpersonal skills. Key objective: To oversee and coordinate the daily operations of the fabrication workshop, ensuring that fabrication work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. You will supervise a team of fabricators, welders, and general workshop staff, managing workloads, allocating tasks, and ensuring adherence to project timelines and specifications. You will need to possess both technical knowledge and strong leadership skills to succeed in this role. Responsibilities: Supervise and lead the workshop team in day-to-day fabrication activities. Implement systems and procedures to improve efficiency and productivity. Interpret engineering drawings and work orders to assign tasks. Ensure timely production of fabricated components per project requirements. Monitor workflow and adjust resources as necessary to meet deadlines. Ensure all work is completed to the highest quality and safety standards. Conduct regular inspections and quality checks on fabricated components. Ensure the workshop complies with all relevant health and safety regulations. Oversee equipment maintenance and ensure all tools are used correctly and safely. Maintain records of production, materials, attendance, and incident reports. Liaise with project managers, engineers, and quarry managers as necessary. Provide regular reports to Directors regarding performance and productivity. Provide training and mentoring to apprentices and less-experienced staff. Implement Rota's and manage leave, task allocation and compliance. Manage stock levels of raw materials. Enforce company policies and disciplinary procedures when required. Carry out performance reviews of direct report staff. Allocate labour hours to the appropriate jobs/projects. Qualifications and Experience: Trade qualification in Fabrication, Welding, or a related field. Minimum 7 years' hands-on experience in a fabrication workshop. At least 2 years' experience in a supervisory or leadership role. Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and specifications. Strong knowledge of welding techniques, metal types, and fabrication equipment. Familiarity with workshop safety procedures and legislation. Forklift and Gantry Crane (desirable). Experience in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement (advantageous). Key Skills and Attributes: Strong leadership and team management abilities. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and commitment to quality. Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Competent in using workshop machinery and hand tools. Competent in using a MIG welder and oxyacetylene Proactive attitude with a focus on productivity and safety. Working Conditions: Based in a fabrication workshop environment in a quarry setting. May require occasional overtime or weekend work depending on project demands. Physically demanding role, involving standing, lifting, and working in various positions. Working Days - Monday to Friday.
