Purpose of Job
Assume responsibility for the daily running of the kitchen following current legislation and Nazareth House policies and procedures. Be aware of and cater for complex dietary requirements, allergies, food sensitivities and modified diets.
Main Responsibilities
Provide a high standard of catering to meet the needs of Residents and Staff.
Prepare and cook excellent quality and wholesome meals as well as home baking.
Provide specialist diets and modified meals as directed and required.
Ensure all meals are labelled correctly before leaving the kitchen for the households.
Support the Chef Manager to ensure all daily menus are balanced and meet our residents' requirements.
Ensure safe storage of foods under legislative standards.
Adhere to all current HACCP Regulations (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points).
Manage the kitchen staff and delegate tasks related to food preparation in a timely fashion in the absence of the Chef Manager.
Ensure safety and hygiene standards are maintained.
Ensure all equipment is operated, maintained and serviced as per the manufacturer's instructions and Health & Safety requirements.
Manage relationships with suppliers and place orders as required.
Take on extra duties such as cleaning as required.
Adhere to First Aid, Hygiene, Health & Safety rules, and COSHH Regulations at all times.
Establish and maintain relationships with residents that are based on respect and equality.
Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications
Proven experience as a Chef.
Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and practices.
Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Keen attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality food.
