Primary Function / Goals
Review all SOPs for job tasks, ensuring full understanding and adherence.
Provide guidance and direction of plant sanitation for manufacturing operations, warehouse, and plant grounds.
Implement food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance policies, procedures, and training.
Update procedures to GMP, EHS, technical/new equipment, quality procedures & SOPs as needed.
Adapt responsibilities based on plant needs.
Major Responsibilities
Drive and implement holistic plant sanitation programs, policies, and procedures for plant, warehouse, and plant grounds; ensure compliance with all regulations and food safety policies.
Act as sanitation support during construction and major maintenance to assess and mitigate safety risks.
Collaborate with Facility Supervisor, Operations Leadership, Operations Associates, and Site Cleaning staff to meet Environmental Monitoring and Pest Control performance.
Evaluate facility sanitary conditions, prioritize corrective actions, and verify sanitation activities and validation testing.
Analyze monthly environmental samples for pathogenic organisms, trend results, and develop corrective actions.
Conform to master cleaning schedule and applicable cGMP guidelines, best practices, and requirements.
Assist in developing and implementing sanitation-related training for plant employees.
Ensure all safety requirements related to sanitation are met, including chemical storage, MSDS, PPE, and procedures.
Maintain detailed cleanup procedures and sanitation SOPs for all plant equipment, aiming to reduce water and air usage.
Education & Experience
BSc in plant quality, food safety, or sanitation with a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role and demonstrated leadership skills.
Certification as a Sanitarian or Pesticide Applicator is an advantage.
Key Skills
Understanding and application of microbiological principles and foodborne pathogen knowledge.
Knowledge of HACCP, sanitation principles, and Food Safety Preventive Controls (FSPC).
Knowledge of wet and dry cleaning methodologies.
Proven experience addressing environmental sanitation challenges.
Proven leadership capabilities.
Project planning and execution experience.
Process control knowledge.
Understanding of plant financial operations.
Experience with Continuous Improvement Projects.
Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Accountability / Scope
Works under the direct supervision of the Food Safety Manager; assists in all phases of sanitation, pest control, microbiological, and cleaning programs for the site.
Decision-making impacts compliance of the production operation and safety of food products.
