Purpose of the Post
* Develop clinical leadership and advanced practice radiography service in sonography.
* Support timely and efficient ultrasound examinations of the highest quality for all referring departments (e.g., General practitioners, surgical, medical and A&E) through developing competency, skills and knowledge to reach the standards for Advanced Practice as set out in the HSE HSCP Advanced Practice Framework.
* Develop competency in vetting request forms in order to prioritise patients.
* Be accountable for own professional actions and work within codes of practice and professional guidelines.
Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications and/or Experience
* Statutory registration, professional qualifications, experience, etc.
* Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Radiographers Division of the Radiographers Register maintained by the Radiographers Registration Board at CORU.
* Have not less than 6 years’ full‑time (or an aggregate of 6 years full‑time) post‑qualification clinical experience.
* Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in ultrasound.
* Hold a QQI Level 9 qualification in ultrasound.
* Provide proof of statutory registration on the Radiographers Division of the Radiographers Register maintained by the Radiographers Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.
* On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Radiographers Division of the Radiographers Register.
* Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
* Be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such that would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
* Be of good character.
