Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Radiology Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team in the Radiology Department, assisting in providing a high-quality service to patients in assigned areas.
The role involves clinical and administrative duties that support Radiographers in providing a high-quality service to users. The successful candidate will be rostered in the Radiology department and will assist the Radiographers and Radiologists in the areas of MRI, Ultrasound, CT, Image management, and General Radiography.
1. Welcome patients and their guardians to the imaging service in a professional manner.
2. Escort patient and relevant paperwork to MRI Suite.
3. Check labels have been printed for, iv gad & Buscopan patients.
4. Demonstrate respect for the patient and be aware that any information discussed with the patient during the examination is private and confidential.
The Radiology Assistant will also be responsible for:
* Assisting Radiographers during all Diagnostic Imaging examinations, including changing, moving and lifting of patients & equipment.
* Assisting patients in completing consent forms for procedures.
* Checking patient screening form: Check patient Name / DOB / Address (tick for completion).
* Discussing with patient if there is any history of metal in eyes?
* Confirming Patient has signed the forms.
* Changing patient into gown, removing jewellery and locking away belongings.
* Giving brief outline of MRI procedure and the use of the call bell & headphones.
* Giving Ear plugs to patient.
Key Responsibilities:
* To monitor stock levels of consumables and highlight need to re-order where necessary under agreed processes.
* Restocking cannulation trolley, gloves, syringes, needles & dressings.
* Replenishing consumable i.e. gowns, couch rolls, incontinence sheets.
* Emptying all linen bins in Radiology Dept. at end of shift.
* Liaising with wards to ensure the timely transfer of patients to and from the department.
* Directing patients to changing cubicles for x-ray examinations and assisting with changing if required.
Requirements:
* A Fetac/QQI Level 5 in Health/Social Care is essential.
* Previous experience in a Radiography Department is desirable.
* Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
* Strong communication skills and clinical skills.
* Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
* Must be computer literate.
* Flexibility and excellent use of initiative.
